party time

Clothes: Topshop
Shoes: Office
Bracelet: Vintage stall in Bath
Rings: Babi-Online and Debenhams

Make up: MaxFactor Smooth Effect foundation; Witch anti-blemish pressed powder; Benefit's Posietint; ELF Eyebrow kit; Barry M Wink Marker pen; MAC Wonder Woman mascara; ELF mineral lipstick in Fiery Fuchsia

This is my outfit from last night's little adventure in Kidderminster. It's been a while since I've worn my trusty high-waisted shorts so I'm glad they still fit me since I've been stuffing my face with food the last few days. oops. My boyfriend bought me the shoes for Christmas 2009 - I love how different they are, a cross between shoes and boots, not too high a heel so they're pretty damn comfortable! Also curled my hair for the first time in forever. Glad it went well since it's been so long - although if you saw me midway through doing it, my hair was all over the place. In a hair clip. In my hand. Scrunched up and balanced on the other side. In my mouth (yummy). Got there in the end though!

I hope you all have had a lovely weekend. Next weekend will be better for me - it's officially the 2 year mark for myself and the boy. We have no money though, so have no idea what to do. Last year we got a hotel room in Birmingham and went out for a posh meal. This year, we'll be in Bath, so any cheap ideas would be great! (:

And before I leave you tonight... I've finally stuck some things up on eBay. Have a looksie - there's a lot of Topshop clothes, 2 pairs of shoes and some Hollister jeans.. So please bid if anything takes your fancy (:

just another Manic Monday... to Friday.

Fringed top: Topshop
Vest (underneath): H&M
Jeans: Topshop
Sandals: Faith

Manic manic manic manic! That is what my week has been like. Back to work this week, which was fine... then got another job interview, which went well but I found it wasn't the job for me. They offered it me as well and I turned it down - it was THAT wrong for me. Ha. Back to square one for me!

Some good news though, my freelancing at Groupon City Blog has expanded a bit and I've been offered a weekly slot :) YAY. So, every Monday afternoon, expect to see some fashion and beauty posts by yours truly! This week's post was published yesterday though, which you can check out HERE. I definitely prefer next week's post though, so keep an eye out for that ;)

The mother and sister have gone to Holland for a few days to visit my brother and sister-in-law... and my newborn baby niece! I'm a bit gutted I couldn't go, but there would have been no room for me in their flat, along with the fact I have no money to go at the moment! Need to keep myself busy this weekend, so I believe I'm off partying with my girls tomorrow night. YAY.

Do you guys have any plans for the weekend? It's meant to be a bit of a heatwave so make the most of it!

Hello Sigma Travel Kit, get in my life

I've been a bad blogger. As a Sigma affiliate, I was sent the Travel Kit in Black to try out. This was around the beginning of the year and I've only JUST started using them. I repeat... BADDD BLOGGER! Not only do I regret not posting about this sooner, but I also regret leaving it so long until I started using them! And so I shall explain...

look at how pretty the packaging is!

Now, I know I'm not the first blogger to ever review this. It's not exactly a new product! However, I still have to share with you how AMAZING these brushes actually are.

I've never been fussed with make-up brushes. At first, I always used to use make-up sponges or my fingers to apply foundation etc. Further down the line, I owned a variety of cheap-y brushes (which, again, I never used), and Clinique's bronzer brush and foundation brush. The last two were used quite a lot, and to be fair could probably do with replacing, or some kind of deep cleansing treatment!

But anyway - I have focused on using 3 brushes in particular that I have used everyday for the past 2 weeks, and they have yet to fail me.

The Duo Fibre brush was a 'free gift' within the kit... Although it generally is given to you when you order the set! ;) Must admit, I feel a bit special getting a free gift until I found out it was a standard thing to receive. This brush is so soft against your skin, I felt no irritation whatsoever when using it. It spreads and blends your foundation evenly, to the point where you don't need to apply much make-up in order to get good coverage. The only downside I could really say is that some bristles did break and stick to my face, which was pretty tricky to get off without messing up the foundation! That stopped after 2-3 days of use though and I can't think of anymore complaints!

The Large Powder brush isn't the most unique brush in the world, but I do tend to have some issues with powder brushes. My skin gets easily irritated, especially when brushes become quite rough after a short space of time. The brush hasn't. It's literally just as soft now as it was 2 weeks ago when I started using it. I've been using Witch Anti-Blemish Pressed Powder at the moment, and it feels so nice on my face (the powder and the brush, may I add)!

I don't use eyeshadow every single day, mainly because I can't be bothered! Sometimes a little bit of eyeliner and mascara is enough for a day. However, when I do put on eyeshadow, I've been one of those annoying people who only use the little sponge applicators that you get in a palette or in a pack of 5 at a store. No matter how many times people tell me to use a brush, I never did. Until now. The eyeshadows I've been using lately (Collection 2000 Angelic palette) weren't as striking in colour as I had hoped. I blamed the eyeshadow itself, when really it was the crappy applicator I got with it. Enter the Eyeshading brush and my eyes are now like BOOMPH! (Is that even a word?) I won't be going back to a sponge applicator ever again. It's easier to apply, blend and get into any corners or creases.

Have any of you tried any Sigma products? Check out what they have to offer by going to their website (: Word of warning to you UK readers though, this is an American website so P&P may not be the friendliest!

my 'fatty' week

Dress: Urban Outfitters
Leggings: Topshop
Shoes: NEXT
Watch: Fossil
Bracelet: Vintage
Ring: a stall at Clothes Show Birmingham 2010 (can't remember where!)

The last few days have been pretty manic for me. I was in Bath from Wednesday to Friday, which was lovely. It's been a while since the boyfriend and I had time to make the most of each day together, without worrying about uni work etc. We went for Nandos and to the cinema to watch Harry Potter :) I must admit, I've never got into the books and only watched some films. I haven't even watched Deathly Hallows Part 1! I absolutely loved Part 2 though.. Got a tiny bit teary eyed in a couple of parts (which I won't explain when, just in case I spoil it!) and I got well into watching it. I also had my job interview, which could have gone better. I really want it but I don't think I was 'good enough'... The nerves got the better of me! Even so, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Came home on Friday, spent the day at the boyf's grandparent's house. They were having a reunion, with nearly 70 people from their youth club. It was actually a lovely day and was really nice to see how, after all those years not seeing each other, it was as if they were reliving the days they all had together. It got me thinking whether I would be able to hold my own reunion in the future... But not everyone from school got along, so it may be a bit disastrous! Hopefully by the time we're 70, all the bad memories would have gone and we all would have a nice day ;) aha.

Their house is amazing too... So scenic and quiet (well, when there isn't 70 people there!)

Now? I'm about to head off to a BBQ at my parent's friend's house. Nice and awkward for me, but it beats staying at home by myself (as the other half has gone back to Bath, booo!) and plus you can't say no to a BBQ can you? Well I can't. Diet starts tomorrow - eating WAY too much in the last few days! (:

Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine today!

Blinged up iPhone

Nearly a month ago, I ordered a customised phonecase for my iPhone 3G after I saw Lily's and Victoria's case designs. Lucy, aka Lucyboots, has set up her own little business and you can order various phone, iPad, iPod and console cases, which she makes especially for you!

I didn't give a detailed description of what I wanted. All I knew was that I wanted a Minnie Mouse and a pink mirror on it! Then I left the rest up to her - put my trust into her and it definitely paid off! You may be thinking 'why did it take so long?" since I ordered it a while ago... Her business is taking off, she's had so many orders and she doesn't rush it. She takes her time and it shows - you can see she cares about every single one she makes. It was definitely worth the wait.

Here's my gorgeous creation...

I paid £18 for mine, including P&P, but the prices vary depending on what you want. I'm pretty terrified of dropping my phone even more now, in case I smash the case and all the decorations fall off! Eek. I also love the contrasting colours, with the biscuit and the different tones of blues, pinks and purples all around. All in all, I couldn't be happier!

If you want to enquire/order your own case, contact her by the Facebook page and fill out the order form :)

HELP! Interview outfit time..

Shirt: Primark
Vest underneath: Topshop
Skirt: H&M
Tights: Topshop

I have a job interview on Friday. YAY! I'm not going to say much about it, as I haven't had much luck lately and I don't want to jinx it. I am pretty happy though and fingers crossed I get it :) eek!

I wore this to work before I had my op, and completely forgot to post it on here at the time, oops... However, I'm thinking of wearing it for my interview. What do you guys think? I want to look smart, whilst styled up how I like to be in general.

A difference is that I don't have my heart-shaped spotty tights anymore... Had a bit of a disaster when I babysat my niece later that day and I ripped them... An unbelievable amount too.

OOPSIE! RIP tights ):

What's your perfect interview outfit?

Spotty dotty

I'm absolutely rubbish when it comes to nails. I really am. My real nails are possibly the shortest you could ever see, seriously, they are DISGUSTING. And saying that doesn't motivate me to grow them. I have my moments when I stop biting them and they grow to the point I can finally use them to tap on the table or even scratch (which doesn't sound nice but hey) and I get really happy... and then something stressful or upsetting happens, 2 days later and bye bye lovely nails!

Unfortunately, this month has been like the latter part of my story... So I'm back to the beginning. I will have beautiful long nails one day. I WILL I WILL I WILL.

In the meantime, I stick some falsies on now and again. I usually use Kiss 100 Nails set in Short Square, but this time I've gone for Nailene (they were on offer but just as good!) Now, obviously with my lack of realness, I'm not an expert in nail art. Far from it. I've only ever painted my toe nails, but never had a go at any art... And because of my busy weekend just gone, I decided to experiment and have a go at some polkadots using cotton wool buds to create the spottyness... I also tried out Gem's technique sticking each nail on an end of a cotton bud to paint them... But one of my thumb nails kept falling off when I was painting it, and I made a big mess of it! I blame the sellotape I used, not me ;)

I was also in a BIG rush to do them, so I don't have many photos... All I have is the finished product! And here it is...

Jewellery: Beaverbrooks and Accessorise
Base: Models Own's Blooboo
Polkadots: ELF in White

Not bad for a first try, eh? (: even if the polkadots are all different sizes... and some don't even look like dots! Oopsie! And yes, my cuticles are a state. Anyone recommend a good cream or oil to recover my cuticles? :)

News: SJP's still got it

I've decided to get my journalism skills out on this blog now and again. I used to write about various news articles right in the beginning of my Tumblr days and when I first joined Blogger... But I seemed to have gone away from it. I won't bombard you with stories and images all the time, as I may as well just post a link to a news website, but if anything really interests me then I will share it with you but with my own opinion. Just brief and explaining why this interests me.

So... enter one of my favourite actresses: Sarah Jessica Parker!

I have to admit, I don't buy Vogue as much as I should do (shockbloodyhorror). It's not even because of how much it costs... It just isn't my thing. However, I believe I will be buying it this month, simply for SJP's spread in the magazine. She looks glamourous and sophisticated as always... and I don't care if a lot of people don't like her, I adore her. Even her kids are adorable! And the fact she's married to Matthew Broderick for 14 years is unbelievable - they keep their private lives private and that's probably the reason their marriage is still so strong. YAY FOR SJP!

Busy busy weekend!

This weekend gone has been so manic yet so brilliant. Saturday brought me a pampering session with the mother and sister, including fake tanning the sis, pedicures and having my first go at polkadot false nails.. Followed by attending my friend's wedding reception. It was a lovely night, the bride's dress was GORGEOUS and got to see some friends who I hadn't seen in ages. I decided to go for the first outfit option, of a blouse and palazzo pants. Although I liked how it looked, I was what people may call a 'sweaty betty' all night. Bad choice in the end!

Blouse: Primark
Palazzo pants: Topshop
Shoes: Primark

Earrings: Topshop
Bracelet: Topshop or Accessorise (can't remember, oops!)
Ring: Accessorise

On Sunday, it was my niece's Christening. She looked bloody adorable, whilst we all celebrated after church by going to a pub and having a BBQ (which at one point caught fire and nearly ruined my dress)! Then went back to my brother's house where Lotte (the littl'un) still looked adorable, the men kept drinking and the women went through the presents! I also got a hell of a lot of comments on my dress, so at least one of my outfits was a hit.

Dress: F&F by Tesco
Shoes: Schuh
same accessories as previous

I gave my present the next day, so it wasn't amidst the madness ;) They seemed to love it, and I'm very happy with the outcome! This is what the boyfriend and I got her...

You can get this box from Bundles of Joy - definitely recommend using them if you ever want to find a different or unique gift. I can easily say no one bought anything similar to this for my niece. It is so well made and gift wrapped so beautifully, it was a shame to unwrap it!

outfit help!

weheartit
look at how cuuuuuute it is! n'awww

I have been sat in the same place on the sofa (on and off, obviously) for the whole week. To say I'm fed up is an understatement. Having two weeks off work is taking its toll on me, along with the fact it hurts to move and my boyfriend and my mum have been running around to look after me. Luckily, it's not hurting as much now and will only get better (touch wood) so I'm hoping I'll be up and running to enjoy the weekend.

It's my friend's wedding tomorrow and I'm attending the reception in the evening. The next day is my niece's Christening. Busy busy busy! I have my new high heeled Primark shoes ready (along with taking some nice flat shoes in case I can't walk in them), but the outfits are still up in the air.

I bought a dress for the Christening, which I think I'll still be wearing for it. It fits really well and I think it'll be comfortable enough due to it not being tight to irritate the stitches I have! It was only from F&F at Tesco as well...

... Can you believe it?! Definitely one of my best purchases. I bought it a few months ago though so unfortunately it's not on the website anymore (and it was a web exclusive)!

I couldn't find anything to buy for the wedding before I had my operation, so it's either palazzo pants (in the Topshop sale for £20) and a Primark blouse... or an ASOS black maxi dress, which I've worn on holiday before. I still need to go for comfort, without looking underdressed. All my other dresses will be too tight to wear or I've worn them too many times to wear them to a wedding.

Sorry for the crappy quality!

What do you guys think?

I've also just got my hair ombre'd/dip-dyed blonde. EEK. My two best girls came over this evening to help me, as I'm pretty damn useless with my hair. I didn't want it too blonde - at least not for the first time getting it done anyway, especially with a busy weekend ahead. I can't afford to mess my hair up completely right now! They did a wonderful job though and here is the finished look... Not straightened may I add. And I only used Photobooth so it doesn't show up very well!

Last little thing, I'm still selling jewellery in my online shop. I haven't mentioned it in ages - to be honest, it was the last thing on my priorities, but I'm getting it up and running again! Click here to have a looksie, or via the link on the side of my blog! (:
