jar of hearts

Top: H&M
Shorts: Topshop
Tights: Primark

I bought this top to wear to job interviews. I've now fallen in love with it and just want to wear it all the time! Of course, I won't, as that would be a bit gross. Most collared tops are short on me, or shrink to the point they're practically cropped. This top is quite long so I know this top will be lengthy enough for me to wear without having to worry about tucking into a skirt or a pair of shorts all the time. I wore my high-waisted black shorts with them, but kept the top out as I liked how it has a bit of a 'baggyness' effect to it. It's not fitted, so feels very comfortable and casual - yet still has the element of being smart due to the fact it's a shirt (yes, I stated the obvious...).

I plan to add my own ribbon bowtie on it - not attached though, so I can choose when I want to wear it! I'll take a photo next time I've sorted that out and show you just how I've done it (: However, do you think I should go for black or cream? Or a completely random colour? Please let me know, I'd love to find out what you guys think would suit it!

Hope you're all having a good week! Obviously, this post has scheduled as I'm on holiday in Falmouth at the moment. I'd love to read into the future and be able to say right now that I've got a tan, but that blatantly won't happen. Cheers weather!

ELF Haul - Conditioning Lip Balm & Mineral Lipstick

A while back, I went on a bit of a spending spree on ELF's website. They always have a fantastic deal on, whether it's free delivery, 50% off... Keep checking their twitter to find out! I can't remember what the deal was when I kept adding items to my virtual basket, but it was so good, I ended up buying quite a few things...

I decided to be good and buy things that I generally needed. You may have noticed the Brush Shampoo and the Toe Separators, but yes I do actually need them, and I'm happy I bought them since they're generally cheap anyway! I was also tempted to buy some foundation or blush, but I'm very wary in case it wrecks my sensitive skin, so yet to take the risk. But now onto a couple of the items that I really do love (I'll write about the others in separate posts).

I was very intrigued when I saw the new Conditioning Lip Balm. I've always been a lipstick or lipgloss girl, but don't wear it very often. I know I should as it adds a bit of life onto my face but once the first application disappears, I forget to reapply. Lazy girl. I decided to buy the lip balm and see how I get on with it. The fact that it says it's conditioning made me want it more, as my lips get very dry now and again - another reason why I don't wear lipgloss or lipstick that much!

It does feel really nice on my lips. I love the strong red colour, as I always thought lip balm had a more subtle tone to it. This photo really doesn't do the colour justice - the red is so powerful, but it looks really dull.. stupid lighting. My lips don't dry out more from it, and the fact it has added SPF is even better! No stickiness either - it just sits there and feels like you haven't got any on. The smell of it reminds me a little bit like Play Doh, but it tastes quite fruity.

As for the lipstick...

I don't quite understand why this colour is called Fiery Fuchsia... To me, fuchsia is bright pink, but this is more of a darker subtle red. I understand that 'fiery' makes it more red, but I feel it's not doing justice to the name. I expected it to have a bit more 'oomph', like the lip balm! It just fades into my natural lip colour. That said, it does feel really nice, and again is not sticky. I'd probably save this for daytime use as it's not too bright - it's just right to stay looking professional yet natural.

Have you used any of these products before?

Bon voyage - see you in a week!

I'm now off on holiday for a week. Starting tomorrow, I will be in Cornwall sunning it up and getting tanned. Trust the UK weather to go downhill when it's my break...

I've got my bag packed, various toiletries and make-up at the ready, and this little beauty.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago off eBay for £30! THIRTY POUNDS?! I used to use these cameras (but a much older version) at university, and have wanted to own one ever since. It's in amazing condition and still in utter disbelief that for once I actually found a bargain. The risk paid off!

I won't be taking my beast of a Nikon D60, only my digital camera, as I plan to use my Flip camera for the majority of the holiday. I miss recording things, and because I've felt ill this week, I thought I'd make up for it by creating a little video of my trip to Falmouth. (: so keep an eye out for a new post from me. Hopefully it will be the start of a sequence of vlogs! Fashion and beauty related of course - I'm not turning into a technology geek on here, even if I am a little bit of one anyway. I'll keep that for Twitter!

I've scheduled a couple of posts for during the week, so don't abandon me just yet ;) I've actually been very organised for a change - yay!

Are you doing anything fun this bank holiday? See you all in a week! baiii!

She's also an aspiring journalist - something I can relate to! Anyway, she's decided to host a giveaway featuring the owl necklace I sell on danijewellery. I was amazed when I found out she picked my item to be a part of her giveaway, and so thrilled that I of course had to accept!

There's a week left until the competition ends (1st September!) - so what are you waiting for? Follow her blog and see if you get the chance to win by CLICKING HERE! You never know until you try :)

Good luck! x

News: Krispy Kreme doing their bit for London Fashion Week

I've just read the most exciting LWF news I've seen so far... and I just had to share it with you.

Krispy Kremes are making a collection of doughnuts to coincide with London Fashion Week! NOM!

Images via Wikipedia and The Independent

Considering fashion has always had the issue of food and weight, I honestly think this is a fantastic move by the doughnut kings! They're working with Glamour magazine to create 2 new limited edition doughnuts to fill our bellies from 29th August to 2nd October.

One has a strawberry glaze (which has already been released for Glamour's 10th anniversary), whilst the other is orange-glazed to represent the A/W season's key colour! I don't even like the taste of orange, but I'm still going to buy it purely for that reason. I'll give that one to Tris (the boyfriend)!

The Independent included some information on how many calories are involved in one of them, but I'm choosing to ignore it. If you're going to eat a Krispy Kreme, don't worry about it! I don't get the chance to eat them that much so the odd one makes no difference to me (well, it probably does, but I blame my general eating habits than the one treat). I honestly feel it's a strong move and hope they are embraced. I'd love to see some models or celebrities tucking into a Krispy Kreme backstage or sat in the front row!

Do you think this is a good move? Will you buying these fashion-inspired doughnuts?

p.s. Ive also just found out there's a new Krispy Kreme store opening in Sheffield soon. Why oh why did it have to open NOW? I've been there for 4 years and now I've moved back home... Too little too late for me. :(

MaxFactor's Smooth Effect foundation

I'm the type of girl who goes for expensive foundation. I'm not talking of the likes of Chanel (although I would like to own one of their foundations one day...), I'm a Clinique girl. I've been using Clinique's Superbalanced foundation for years and it has never failed me. However, it was a bit too much coverage for my daytime look. It does have a slight caked-on feeling and I wanted something a bit lighter - both in coverage and in price!

Anyway, after my holiday in June, I decided to go on the hunt for a new purse-friendly foundation. I went to my local Sainsburys, which only sells high-street brands, had a browse and tested a few out. This is the one I picked out..

Before application...

After application...

It cost me £6-7 (I can't remember exactly, it was so long ago, oops) and it's lasted forever so far. It stays on all day, doesn't fade and feels lovely on my skin. You only need to use a little bit and it spreads really far. It covers redness, spots, bags under your eyes... All sorts! And it doesn't dry out your skin, which is a big issue for me most of the time. It's one of the cheaper products by MaxFactor and, in my opinion, probably one of the best!

I've been applying it with a Sigma F50 Duo Fibre brush, which has really helped me to spread the foundation further than if I used a standard foundation brush or my fingers. Of course, you can use different ways to apply, but I found a brush like that lets me achieve the best finished look.

I've noticed that it's actually more expensive to buy in stores, such as Boots, so go to your supermarket instead! I'm not sure if that's the case for other brands, like Rimmel etc, but it's worth researching into it. I know you get points if you shop at Boots or Superdrug, but sometimes I'm more bothered about saving money there and then ;)

Victoria's Secret is coming to the UK - YAY

I was 15 when I was introduced to Victoria's Secret. Walking through Florida's Mall at Millenia (in a nutshell: my heaven), I just knew I had to go in there and have a look. That Christmas, my mum surprised me with two pairs of gorgeous comfy pyjamas and I was hooked. I was a bit too young to fully appreciate the underwear range, which is their speciality, but 7 years down the line and I'm craving to own a lot of items! Unfortunately, I haven't owned anything since, mainly due to the sheer cost of getting it delivered over here... But now that's no longer a problem.

I couldn't find a photo of the Mall at Millenia store :(
via FashionablyJust

They're coming to the UK next year!

Words cannot express how happy I am about this. I've loved it ever since I set foot in their store in Florida, so I can easily say my love for them is beyond the look of the items on the website, the beautiful models and extravagent catwalk shows they hold. I know the quality, the feel... How you would feel beautiful in anything with a Victoria's Secret label on it. I know I would, which is why I'm now counting down the days until I can finally fulfill my desire to shop there.

Of course, going into the store in London (or when it hits Birmingham, if it does) or ordering online won't beat the feeling of Florida. It's the only reason why I don't want it coming to this country. I loved how special the brand was to me. That it was only available in America, so going there was not only exciting for shopping but generally a joy to experience.

But to hell with that: BRING IT ON VICTORIA'S SECRET. THE UK IS WAITING FOR YOU!

start of something new

All Topshop!
Nails: Nails Inc nail polish in Tate & Barry M Shatter polish in Black

Mixed it up a little bit with a sleeveless shirt and checkered skirt today. I don't wear this skirt that much but it's definitely the comfiest skirt I own. I'm in the house today doing chores and trying to tick things off my to-do list (once I've actually written it...) so I haven't accessorised at all today. I didn't see any point in doing so, and this post wouldn't be real if I threw on a necklace and a couple of rings just for the purpose of two photos! I do like simplicity occasionally.

I have, however, accessorised my hands by sticking on some false nails and painting them. They still need tidying up... And I feel a bit like a goth with black and red nails! I don't care though, as I haven't used my Barry M shatter polish in a while. I also found this Nails Inc polish at the bottom of my make-up case today, which I haven't used in years! I love it when that happens.

I've decided I really need to start looking after myself from now on. I've 'let myself go' a little bit, therefore no longer toned, my skin is a bit bleurgh and I've lost all motivation for my future career. I've woken up today and have been sorting my life out ever since. It's nice to feel productive for once!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to...

T-shirt: Primark
Skirt: H&M
Leggings: Topshop
Slipper socks: Birthday present

Yes, those are my slipper socks! But anyway... I just HAD to properly introduce you to my new t-shirt. I was wearing it to sleep in originally, but now I've changed my mind and want to wear it in the daytime! I just love it so much! It's so comfortable and baggy... But that's because it's a Primark Mens tee in size Medium ;) I might cut the sleeves off one day, but for now I'm going to keep it as it is! I wore a black bodycon skirt and leggings underneath because it's not long enough otherwise - the skirt was needed! And FYI, the title is a lyric from the theme tune!

OH THE MEMORIES!

Have you found any treasures in the men's section of a shop?

p.s. Expect a brand new type of blog post tomorrow ;)

Sleek Makeup's Pout Paints

You may know about a certain make-up range that have brought out a new lip colour product... Sleek Make-up's Pout Paints!

After seeing a couple of reviews in the blogosphere, I just knew I had to get my hands on some and find out for myself what all the fuss is about! I decided to get three, because it was 3 for 2 in Superdrug ;) It was a bit of a mission though.. The store in Bath doesn't sell Sleek (shock horror!) so I promptly asked my lovely friend Scarlet to see if she could get me any. Luckily, she managed to get me three and here they are!

Peek-A-Bloo, Cloud 9, Port

The blue and white shades are there to create a variety of different shades using one of the pink/red colours available. Of course, you can use the pout paints as they are (even the blue and white if you so wish)! If not, mix them in a little pot so you can keep that shade for future use, or just quickly mix on your hand like I did. It's trial and error to get the exact shade you want - it works exactly like normal paint, so I'd add a little bit of blue/white each time you want to change the shade. Too much and you could ruin it (what a waste). I had a quick go and applied the two created shades... (you can tell it's quick due to the complete mess I made on my lips!)

LOLZ WHAT A MESS

I can apply lipstick, I swear! I was in a mega rush when I was trying them out. Anyway, I found the paints settle well on your lips. It wasn't sticky at all, didn't bleed anywhere and to be honest, my lips felt fab with it on. I honestly didn't feel like I had lip colour on! However, I definitely recommend using a brush when applying... Using your fingers doesn't work out so well (as proven above)!

Sleek has 11 shades to choose from, and you can order them through the website HERE for £4.99 each, or pop into your nearest Superdrug that sell the range and stock up before the offer ends!

Have you tried Pout Paints before?

life is a flower

Dress:Topshop
Leggings: Topshop
Loafers: NEXT
Teacuo necklace: my shop!

As much as these shoes remind me of granny slippers, I absolutely love them! They're so comfortable and go with pretty much everything. I bought them for £15 in the NEXT sale - WIN! I've had this tunic dress for 2 years but hardly wear it now. I have to wear leggings underneath because it's a bit translucent so need to save my dignity! The top half is a bit risky to wear during the day, so I usually wear a cardigan on top.

I've just been swatching the life out of my hand - got so many reviews coming up ;) Now I've got my desk in my room, I've had a burst of motivation to get on with things! I'm worried that the sheer mix of products, both skin care and make-up, will react on my hand soon. It currently feels very soft though so yay!

And to end on a random note: I really want to start doing pilates but I can't afford to go to a class at the moment. Does anyone know of any decent DVDs out there? I've looked on Amazon and there's hundreds! Eek I don't do choices.
