I’m always on the look out for the best mascara to create my perfect night-time look. I love my eyes, so I always feel the need to accentuate my eyelashes in order to make the most of them. I’m blessed with pretty long lashes as well to be honest, but a little helping hand doesn’t go amiss.
I used to be a big fan of Benefit’s Bad Gal mascara, and a more recent purchase of MAC’s Wonder Woman mascara… But with both being very high-end brands, I can’t always afford and my needs for a decent mascara is ever increasing.
I decided to give a high street name a chance. I’ve heard so many good things about this mascara, but never got round to buying it. £11.99 (from Boots - may be cheaper elsewhere?!) was still on the high scale in my opinion – for a high street brand anyway! But with it being cheaper than MAC or Benefit, I had to give it a shot.
Just one application for 'daytime'
MaxFactor’s False Lash Effect ‘Fusion’ mascara has been raved about by both bloggers and my dear friends (who possibly know more about beauty than I do). On first application, I already noticed a big difference to my eyelashes and knew I would get on very well with this.
There were no clumps, my eyelashes stayed separate and curled nicely without the help of an eyelash curler. The black was ‘intense’… If you know what I mean. I almost felt like I didn’t really need any eyeliner because the black was so strong. I was really impressed with how defined they looked and the amount of volume it gave my lashes, especially after a second application. The photos show just one layer of mascara... and usually I find that you need to apply mascara 2-3 times to achieve this kind of effect. I only needed to apply it twice to get my desired look, and the fact that I could also create a subtle day look is great.
The brush itself had very small 'spikes', which definitely helps limit the amount of clumps you get. I always find these brushes much better for application.
I'm not sure whether I would repurchase this mascara, when my beloved Benefit mascara is just £4 more. However, I definitely recommend this if you want to create a dramatic eye look (with a small-ish price tag).
