Superdrug's Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser

With my review of Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish product being thrown into the huge ‘positive’ pile of other blog posts going around, I didn’t think I would find another cleanser that could work just as well. With the issue of having no money but running out of product, I had to find another alternative and FAST.

Superdrug’s Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser is, to me, not ‘perfect’ but definitely a great substitute until you can afford the extra few £££. With a price tag of £5.99, it’s hard to know what to expect until you just give it a go.

The first time I used it didn’t go so well. I was really apprehensive to try it out because of my dry skin. After I removed the product with the muslin cloth (which isn't as soft as the ones you get from Liz Earle), it honestly felt like all the moisture had been sucked away from my face. My skin was really tight, so extra moisturising was needed that evening. After complaining about it on Twitter, I heard that a couple of people suffered the same effect but had no problems afterwards. I decided to carry on trying it out to see if the same would happen to me.

The same reaction occurred 2-3 times until I noticed a much better result. The product itself felt really nice on my skin – it wasn’t too heavy and it took all my make-up off in one go. It was just the after effect that I had the issue with. However, that soon stopped and my skin didn’t feel as dry as before. Now a few months down the line (as I wanted to test it properly before writing this review) I can safely say that I have no issues whatsoever with it.

It doesn't dry out my skin anymore, it still takes off all my make-up and so does the job perfectly. I think the cleanser is not as kind to your skin as Liz Earle, as I notice my face doesn't look as calm, but it's nothing to worry about. I only use this at night time in order to take make-up off, so I can't expect my face to look incredibly fresh!

For just £5.99, I do feel like this is a great alternative to Liz Earle when on a budget. Of course, I will repurchase both, but I will probably use Superdrug's product more so due to the price and keep Liz Earle for the days when my skin needs some much-needed looking after.

Have you tried either product? What do you think?
