OPI Holland Collection - Dutch Treats Mini Set

When I heard that OPI was releasing a 'Holland' inspired collection, I just knew I had to get my hands on some of the range. Last month, I noticed an offer on buyapowa to get the OPI Dutch Treats mini set. I knew I was visiting family in Holland this month (well, I'm here now!) so I couldn't resist to buy this set for the occasion! I adore Holland, and the colours in this set are gorgeous and remind me of the country, canals and the tulip fields that I always pass on the way to my brother's flat.

1. I Have A Herring Problem | 2. Red Lights Ahead...Where? | 3. Kiss Me on My Tulips | 4. Pedal Faster Suzi!

The shades in this set are amazing, I couldn't choose a single favourite. That's why I decided to mix and match (even if it looks a bit silly). I applied 2 coats of each nail polish, but to be honest, the colour is that strong you could probably get away with applying 1 coat. I guess it depends on what effect and how sharp you want the colours to be. The teal and pale pink shades are slightly shimmery, which is pretty noticeable when hit by the sunlight. The other 2 colours, coral/red and hot pink, are sharp and very bright - great for colour clashing, or to splash a bit of colour on a dull outfit!

I have applied a clear top coat to each nail polish, and they all last a fair few days before chipping. Very long lasting, which is great, especially when on holiday like I am right now!

You can buy this set for around £13, or you can buy the full sizes of the Holland inspired range here - they cost £11 each, and I honestly think it's worth the money. The polishes are hard wearing and long lasting... and although this collection is for Spring/Summer, I'll definitely be digging these out during Autumn/Winter in order to brighten up an outfit.

Vest: Topshop
Skirt & belt: Primark
Lego ring: Handmade
Cupcake ring: Clothes Show Live

This dip back skirt is so cute, I love the bird print and navy blue shade. It fits really well, and the pleats at the top sit nicely on my hips so I don't look bigger than I am. I really hope Primark bring out more pastel coloured patterns in this skirt style, as they would be great additions to the summer wardrobe. Quite surprised that it's quite a long length on me, especially at the back. Perfect.

I actually decided to wear this outfit (but slightly smarter) for my first day at work, which was yesterday! So yes, I'm already failing to keep on top of my blog. I'm trying to get used to working life again at the moment, but once everything has settled down and I'm in a routine, I'll be back to it in no time! I'm enjoying my new job so far - it's such a steep learning curve, but I'm ready to throw myself into it and fingers crossed become a pretty damn good PR girl.

Vlog | 15 Questions Tag

I've finally got round to recording my first vlog - shock horror! It's only taken me nearly a year but I got there in the end. I decided to record the 15 Questions Tag, which I spotted on Lily's blog. I wasn't tagged to do it, but I liked the idea so thought I'd go ahead and do it. I'm actually a bit apprehensive about publishing this video, but it's recorded and edited now so I've thrown it out there.  Hopefully I'll record more (a bit sooner than a year later)!

1. What do you think you can't do but can?
2. What's a difficult word for you to pronounce?
3. What is a favorite TV show from your childhood?
4. What are your virtues and vices?
5. What's more important: love, fame, power, or money?
6. If you could live in any era/time period, when would it be and why?
7. If you had to redo your entire wardrobe with 2 stores, what would they be and why?
8. Can you recall what you were doing a year ago on this day?
 9. Do you have reoccurring dreams?
10. What's your horoscope?
11. What does your dream bedroom look like?
12. What position do you sleep in?
13. Who is your favorite vampire of all time?
14. What are you currently wearing on your feet?
15. Do you have neat handwriting?

We'll shine together

Dress: TK Maxx

I broke my shopping ban. I know. I know. Shameful. I fell in love with this dress when I saw it the other day... Perfect for summertime. It's actually really light so is cool and comfortable. I love the crochet detail on the waistband and near the edge of the dress. It's really subtle so it's great to wear during the day. The colour splashes are also great, as it makes it more summery and a bit more 'adventurous'. The only thing I would say is that it's very floaty, and therefore is absolutely terrible when it's windy outside. Luckily, I wore shorts underneath, else I would have flashed quite a few times today.

Today has been pretty chilled out - enjoying the weather at my brother's house and playing with my baby niece in the garden. She just makes me smile all the time and forget all my problems. But now? I'm home alone, bored, wishing I had something to do. Then again, it does give me the excuse of sitting back and watching Eurovision... It's terrible but I love it.

You better move over

Dress: Topshop
Waistcoat: TX Maxx

I have been waiting for the right moment to wear this pale blue Topshop midi dress all week and I couldn't wait any longer. I've felt really cool in this dress, as it's not heavy to wear whatsoever. It's the type that I could dress up with accessories and some heels, or dress down (like today) with flats/wedges and not much else. I never feel the need to wear a lot of jewellery in the summertime - even though I could probably do with a necklace on, I don't fancy having weird tan lines on my chest.

The crochet waistcoat is a new addition to the wardrobe (which my mum bought me - so I'm still doing well with my ban!). I've wanted one like this for absolutely ages, and found this beauty in TK Maxx (possibly the only time in years that I have actually found something decent in there)! It goes with practically everything and just adds something extra to my plain outfit.

Seeing the Olympic torch yesterday was surprisingly good, although it only lasted 5 seconds. Standing outside for an hour, waiting for a very quick glimpse of the torch doesn't really seem worth it, but it was probably the first and last time I would have witnessed it. Ended up going to a beer garden for the rest of the day, drinking cider, catching up with friends and trying to win a Tigger teddy from a toy claw machine (Is that what they're called? I can't remember). Now, I'm off out in the sunshine again with the lovely Laura... I have no idea what we're going to be doing but we've decided to 'go wild'. Oh dear.

PromNoTan 2005/07 vs PromTan 2012

Tis the season to get dolled up to the nines, put your best dress on and dance the night away with your school friends. Your school or college/sicth form prom was the time that everyone was waiting for. Not only was it an excuse to get dressed up and get drunk (if you're old enough, may I add...), but it was also the night that you realise "Oh bloody hell, it's time to grow up now" and either move onto to study A Levels or onto university. It was that season a fair few years ago for me now... But I remember both of my proms like they were yesterday(-ish)...

stupid sunlight and scanned photos
Dress 1: Monsoon (around £150) Dress 2: River Island (£20 in the sale)

As you can tell by the price difference, I was slightly more bothered about my school prom than sixth form... I honestly think I was more bothered about having money to drink at that point. That sounds really bad on my part. Every time I look at my prom photo albums, I think to myself 'good grief, I've changed'... and then 'I wish I had decent make-up on'... followed by 'I look really washed out and pale'. These photos I've posted on here don't look too bad, but honestly, I looked like I've had a whitewash on my face for the second prom. Awful.

Back then, I think people weren't as fussed about fake tan as we are now... Or was that just me? Possibly. I do wish I 'discovered' fake tan though, especially for my second prom, but never mind. It's too late for me... But it's not too late for you (if you've got your prom coming up, that is!)

I recently came across this competition from sienna X - PromTan 2012. They're offering the chance for a group of 7 to win a 'glamourous spray tan party' just before their big prom night. You can also win a professional photoshoot, become the official faces of sienna X Prom 2013 and you get £250 to spend for the prom. Jealous? Yes I bloomin' well am.

If you've got your prom coming up, or know someone who does, then why not enter this to see if you get the chance to win and avoid looking all pale like yours truly here?! Don't make the same mistake I did. Srsly.

All you need to do is send sienna X 50 words explaining why you and your friends should become the winning sienna X Prom queens. EASY. Check out the website for more information and where to email your answer etc... It closes on 8th June though, so hurry up and enter!

You wanna shake it right down

Dress: ASOS
Sandals: Faith
Rings: Handmade
Bracelet: Vintage stall in Bath

I'm a bit too overdressed today, but never mind. Sunshine gives me the excuse to wear this black maxi dress as much as possible! It's really comfortable and light to wear because it's cotton. It's got a 'crepe' effect to it, so it creates a nice texture and look in my opinion. I don't tend to go for halterneck dresses (or tops) as I always feel I don't pull them off very well... I don't really know why. This is one exception though, especially with the low cut back and the strap to cover the back of your bra - always useful as I hate flashing it. My Faith gladiator sandals are a few years old now so they could do with replacing. Anyone know of any stores that have pretty sandals on offer at the moment?!

Well, if you haven't already noticed on the photos or on Twitter/Facebook, I have some writing on my right arm. I'm officially inked again!

I absolutely love how it turned out. The quote "It's kind of fun to do the impossible" is something Walt Disney himself said, and it's something I believe in. Every time I look at it now, I feel really positive. I do feel a little bit like Tulisa with her 'The Female Boss' tattoo - like I should hold up to my face with pride on The X Factor. That's happening a lot right now though whilst I show it off a bit...

Now, I'm off into Kidderminster town centre to enjoy the sunshine with my mum and see the Olympic torch later this afternoon! I'm actually a bit excited about it - I didn't think it would bother me, but it'll be the only time in my life I will see it go through my hometown blah blah blah so I'm embracing the moment. :)

Hard to dance with a devil on your back

Vest: Clothes Show Live
Shorts: Topshop

I don't feel right wearing these shorts in the UK. I feel very underdressed... even though it's so hot outside! I love the light pastel shades in the subtle flowery print - I bought these a couple of years ago I think, so I doubt you'd be able to get them now. These are definitely my 'summer' shorts, even though they are pretty versatile and I could wear them during A/W with black tights etc. Because of the heat, I decided to just throw on my Minnie Mouse vest as it's a loose fit, comfortable and very thin so it should help keep me nice and cool!

I was meant to be having a day out today with a friend, but things changed so I'm now outside in the garden with my Kindle, trying to enjoy the sunshine as much as I can and cheer myself up. Hoping to rebook my tattoo today for some time this week... I'm so desperate to get it done now! And I've just realised that I'm off to Leiden in Holland a week tomorrow to visit my brother, sister-in-law and finally meet my nearly 1 year old niece! It'll be good to get away for a few days and visit them. Leiden is such a lovely place.

Mental pictures, no cameras please

Shirt: Primark
Skirt: eBay
Rings: Clothes Show Live
Bracelet: Vintage stall
Necklace: Topshop

This slightly pleated (and very creased by the looks of things) midi skirt was an eBay special last year, and one that was obsessed with wearing. It's so easy and light to just throw on when the weather is warm, as it doesn't make you hotter. It's quite a loose fit, and the elasticated high waist makes it a lot more comfortable to wear. I wanted to experiment with various splashes of colour, and I thought this flowery Primark shirt did the job. You can't tell as it's tucked in, but the length is pretty decent. What are the chances that it'll shrink into a crop top for me though? I'm thinking quite high.

Today was meant to be tattoo day, but it was cancelled as the tattooist is ill. I'm absolutely gutted because I was raring to go! I'm hoping I can get it rebooked for sometime this week, so fingers crossed. On Thursday, I'm going to see the Olympic torch go through my hometown - very exciting! Have you seen it yet, or are you planning on going to?

Don't worry about tomorrow

Shirt: Topshop
Vest: H&M
Shorts: Topshop jeans (DIY)
Tights: Primark
Rings: Handmade
Necklace: Topshop

Today was meant to be the first 'heatwave' day. I obviously fell for it but I'm regretting it now as I'm pretty cold! This Topshop shirt has shrunk so much, I couldn't wear it on it's own today unless I wanted to flash my midriff and be even colder. Decided to turn it into a bit of a waistcoat for the day though as I generally fancied wearing it! I haven't worn my customised shorts in a fair while too, but threw on some heart patterned tights just to mix it up. A simple and casual outfit.

It's officially my last week before I start full time work again. This month has literally flown by! I'm quite glad we're due to have lovely weather this week, so I can enjoy it! It's a bit awkward when all your friends work full time though, as I have no one to enjoy the weather with. Trying to plan activities and road trips is difficult! However, something very exciting is happening tomorrow... I'm getting my tattoo! So expect to see that tomorrow PM :) I'm pretty nervous, as I'm absolutely useless when it comes to pain, but can't wait to get it done. It'll mark the start of a completely new beginning for me...

They're gone so fast

Dress: Topshop
Crop top underneath: Primark
Tights: Henry Holland for Pretty Polly
Shoes: Irregular Choice
Earrings: Topshop
Bracelets: Primark
Ring: Blanche & Lola

This is the second time I've given this dress an outing. The first time was in Sheffield so I didn't get chance to take any photos (apart from the silly little one in my April photoblog). I absolutely love this dress, and it was less than £30, which is amazing for Topshop. The top part is quite sheer but not too much... The stripe effect helps die down the sheerness so I don't feel on show too much. I hate feeling like I'm flashing - I never really understood that trend! I wore a little black crop top underneath though so I felt 'safe' enough. I wore my favourite Irregular Choice shoes... You can tell they're my favourite pair due to the dirtiness! Horrendous. Also, RIP to my tights... In a state of annoyance, I managed to rip them all up my leg. Absolutely devastated. So much so, I'm tempted to purchase a replacement! Anyone want to lend me £20 so I can buy a new pair? No?

A bit too high up!

I actually had a really good night last night, despite a few issues. My friends and I realised how sad we are remembering ALL the lyrics to 3 Vengaboys songs, and other cheesy songs that were played. Safe to say we were in our element, and I'm very thankful to have such amazing friends. We're as sad as each other.

I've got one more week left until I start my new PR job. Pretty exciting times ahead! Trying to sort out a few plans to keep myself occupied, to make the most of the time off and the apparently warm weather we're due to have. ROAD TRIP! Today, I'm hoping to get some munches with my baby niece. She never fails to make me smile, and that's definitely what I need! How is it that kids have such an effect on your mood?!

Where's your fire tonight?

iPhone quality photos - apologies!
Shirt: Primark
Vest underneath: Topshop
Jeans: Primark
Shoes: Fred Perry
Bag: Vivienne Westwood

I'm starting to feel the need to make my wardrobe a little bit smarter, but without losing myself and my style. I picked up this shirt from Primark (before my shopping ban!) to add to my expanding collection. I thought the bow print was really cute, and I like the puffed shoulders and sleeves as it helps make the shirt a bit more 'playful' and not serious. Very 60s. I do wish the shirt wasn't so sheer though, as I prefer to wear shirts without the need to layer it on top of a vest every time. Teamed it with my gingham Fred Perry pumps and my bright red Vivienne Westwood bag (which I bought from Bicester Village a few years ago for less than £200, amazing! It's a bit battered and bruised now though) to add a much needed splash of colour!
