Wrappz | Review

Wrappz phone case*

I've had my old Drop Dead Clothing phone case for a while now, and it started looking a bit battered and bruised! When Wrappz contacted me to see if I would like to check out their cases, I couldn't resist! I've wanted a personalised case for ages, so I was intrigued to see how this would turn out.

It took me absolutely forever to choose which photos to include on my phone case, especially to fit in the specific frame it offers. The photos need to cover more than just the back, so it can wrap around the sides too. I do love this option, so the case has some consistency and doesn't end up with some random white or transparent sides that look kind of tacky.

My case arrived within a few days, which I was pleasantly surprised about! The quick turnaround didn't affect the quality either, as my photos are crisp and cleap on my phone case!

For just under £19, it is a bit pricey, but I can't fault it if you want a fab quality case and fast delivery! Wrappz also offers cases for other devices, plus you can choose from selected designs in case you don't want it personalised like mine. I highly recommend using Wrappz, and I'll be keeping this phone case on my iPhone with pride :)

What case do you have on your phone?

The Autumn Tag 2013

I've spotted the autumn tag doing the blogging rounds recently, but Hollie's written post made me make the effort to join in! I've always been a Spring/Summer girl, but I seem to be looking forward to the A/W months this time round, digging out the chunky knits, fur coats and boots and drinking plentifuls of hot chocolate! So here's my tag :)

In terms of Autumn what is your...

Favourite thing about it? I'm not a massive fan of Autumn, like I said, so my favourite thing would have to be being able to wear my chunky knitwear and boots again... Plus, the fact that it's getting closer to my birthday and Christmas!

Favourite Drink? Non alcoholic, I tend to drink more cups of tea, and mint hot chocolate! Alcoholic, I usually drink a glass of port and lemonade during Autumn/Winter.

Favourite scent/candle? I don't think my choice of scent or candle changes much, but I do have a Yankee Candle called Snow In Love which I will start using again soon.

Best lipsticks? At the moment, I'm loving Illamasqua's Magnetism (if I've got plenty of lip balm on!) or GOSH's Bourgogne - I'm a fan of a slightly dark lip :)

Go to moisturiser? I can't stop using Liz Earle's Skin Repair Moisturiser - I haven't found a better moisturiser than this yet!

Go to colour for the eyes? It all depends on what I'm wearing, obviously, but my eyes go slightly more smoky during Autumn. I tend to play around with a lot more gold shades too.

Favourite Band/singer or music to listen to? I don't think I can narrow it down for a seasonal thing. The Killers will always be my favourite no matter what time of year it is. I guess if I had to choose one for Autumn, it would be Arctic Monkeys this year as I'm seeing them in Birmingham at the end of the month!

Favourite outfit to wear? I like to try and keep my outfits simple and comfortable... A big chunky knit, a nice pair of leggings (velvet or patterned), boots and my Zara trench coat!

Autumn Treat? It used to be a trip to Costa for a Frosted Mint Hot Chocolate, but then I realised you can actually buy them any time of year (duh)! But doing that, along with buying a slice of cake or caramel shortbread to go with it, whilst people watching reminds me of Autumn when I lived in Sheffield and Bath, and gets me in the mood for the winter months.

Favourite place to be? I'm not much of an outdoorsy person when it's cold, so I'd much prefer to be at home next to the fire with a drink and just chilling out. Or like I said above, at Costa people watching! It's a bit too early to list the Christmas Market on here, else that would be #1 on the list!

Essence Makeup | Review

Essence*

Have you ever heard of a brand called Essence? No, me neither, but it's currently the largest value cosmetics brand worldwide (including Germany and Ireland) and it's now arrived in England! I think this brand is the next Collection/Miss Sporty/Natural Collection. Great value when on a tight budget, and accessible for teens who are just starting to build up their make-up collection.

Retailing from 99p to £3.99, you can't really complain on the price, but does the quality match up to it? On first impressions, the packaging is fun (especially the mascaras) yet to the point. To be fair, it's not that far off what you'd find on the high street, so maybe the price tag will help challenge the more reputable brands like Rimmel for example. Saying that, I don't rate Rimmel, so if Essence turns out to be better quality (and cheaper) then it'll win my vote hands down!

I really like the look of the eyeshadows and mascaras, and I can't wait to test these out. Don't be put off by the cheap looking packaging (although it's not actually that bad)... After all, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. I also thought the clear bag was a cute idea - perfect to hold your travel essentials and is a decent size!

The only downside to the brand at the moment is that it is only available in selected Wilkinson stores so far, including Mansfield, Southend-on-Sea and Castleford. There's nowhere close to me in Birmingham, which is a shame but hopefully it will branch out soon! I could even see this entering the likes of Superdrug or even Primark one day.

I'll be reviewing these in groups so keep a look out for those soon :) In the meantime, what are your first impressions of Essence?

The Show: Ten | The Collections

The Show: Ten in the Bullring was to celebrate the Birmingham shopping centre's 10th birthday, and what a celebration it was. Perfectly timed with Style Birmingham Live event, the show hosted ten collections, all outfits of which were available to buy in the Bullring. I think I preferred this show to Style Birmingham Live, purely because the outfits were mainly from the high street, which is more in my price range!

I loved the variety of tweed coats, chiffon materials and sparkly embellishments. There were quite a lot of tailored trouser and short suits too - some of which you can wear with other items for different occasions. All the outfits are very wearable and realistic, which is why I love them! Pay day better watch out after seeing these...

Diving too deep for coins | Outfit

Dress: Miss Selfridge | Shoes: Topshop | Bag: Accessorize

A couple of weekends ago, I attended a beautiful wedding. One question we always have to consider when choosing what to wear is 'what will the bridesmaids wear' as you never want to match on colour! I was clueless with this, so decided to mix it up a bit. I had my shoes all ready - a gorgeous metallic pale pink colour - so I had the difficult task of finding a dress and bag to match!

Luckily I found this little number from Miss Selfridge (a brand I don't usually choose!) and it was perfect. I adore the mixture of colours in the embroidered panel (especially as it matched the shoes), the deep navy blue and the mesh overlay that looks like a tutu. It's also got a cute blue velvet ribbon as a belt, so you're not restricted on material/fabric for bag choice.

My bag is from Accessorize, along with my jewellery to match. I've actually wanted a blue clutch bag for ages so this will come to good use again! This is possibly one of my favourite outfits that I've bought in a while. I can't wait to be able to dig this dress out again, it's too pretty not to!

On an end note, I've just noticed how fair my legs look compared to the rest of my body... Don't you just love awkward camera shots and not-so-translucent tights.

Style Birmingham Live 2013 | The Collections

I stupidly didn't take my camera with me, and my iPhone blurred EVERYTHING, so here are my favourite picks (all photos credited).

The collections from Style Birmingham Live in the Town Hall covered everything from the designer range in Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, to the more affordable in Primark and Marks & Spencer! With 9 themes in total, we were treated to a wide range of top autumn/winter trends for us to get our hands on. There was also the addition of Lauren Lambert from BINTM on the catwalk, looking as fabulous as expected!

My favourite themes were Monochrome, Pink Palette, British Urban and Retrograde Romance. I loved the black and white block prints, lace detailing and the array of pastel pink shades. I've also started to love check and tartan items - I now want/need a tartan skirt in my life. I'd happily include these in my wardrobe, but not necessarily worn together - some items I'd team up differently just to mix it up a bit.
