I #LoveSundays, do you?

Did you know that us Brits are burning ourselves out by not getting enough ‘Me Time’? That's according to a new study by eHarmony, we need around 20 hours of mental downtime a week to feel relaxed and refreshed, but 39% of us actually get this.

When eHarmony contacted and challenged me to spend some much-needed 'me-time', I took the chance. I know I need some downtime. Desperately. This was a good chance for me to discover the importance of having a relaxing Sunday - something which I forgot existed.

My little care package/Zen box got me very excited for my 'day off'. I had a lot of goodies to play with, and ended up planning what I would get up in my day. I'm like that. I still need some kind of routine! So, what did I get to?

Had a long hot bath with candles.
Yes, I may have woken up to my shower not working (great start to my Sunday) but I thought to myself: Now's the time to make the most of it and enjoy soaking in a bath with some gorgeous Molton Brown Seamoss Stress-Relieving Hydrosoak which smells divine and my little Daisy Dip candle. My bathroom isn't the best room in the world, but doing that actually helped me to forget the mouldy state of the flat and let me drift off in my own little world. Bliss.

Put my feet up.
Feet up. Tea in hand. Cereal ready. The Big Bang Theory. Need I say more? I may do this often in my evenings, but on a Sunday morning? You'd usually find me cleaning or getting ready to go out for the day.

A spot of shopping.
You know what I discovered? I actually enjoyed food shopping by myself... On a Sunday. I thought that I needed to get out of the flat and get some fresh air, so I ended up walking round Asda for nearly an hour on my own with my trolley, buying more than I should have. I don't why but I loved casually walking round the supermarket in my own little world. Sometimes it's good to just get out the house, especially if you're not in a rush and you can just have a wander.

End the day with good food and hot chocolate.
I enjoy cooking, and I don't find it particularly stressful unless it's for a dinner party. Luckily, I only had Alex to please. The kitchen is small so I allowed Alex to relax after work whilst I slaved away in the kitchen. Jokes. After eating some yummy toad in the hole, we finished the day by watching Breaking Bad and drinking the Hans Sloane brand of drinking chocolate - my new ultimate favourite. I added some whipped cream on top and some crushed flake and it was SO GOOD. It was the perfect way to end the day.

I haven't had a Sunday like that in SO long, and I'll definitely make the effort to make more time for 'me', as I felt much better after such a relaxing day.

Do you get to have lazy Sundays? Next time you've got a Sunday on your own, I challenge you to...

Spend the first hour of your morning having a long, relaxing bath or shower, and maybe try some new beauty products whilst you're at it. Not only is it a good opportunity for us bloggers to fully appreciate new products without feeling like we're 'working', but a lovely pampering session gets you ready for the week ahead.

When you're in the bath, perhaps use an eye product such as Liz Earle's Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion - apply it on cotton pads and place them on your eyes for 5-10 minutes. That was definitely a highlight to my Sunday, plus I've discovered a new product which I love. Spa heaven.

Use the hashtag #LoveSundays and share what you got up to this Sunday :) Both myself and eHarmony would love to know!
