It's been a while since I visited a salon since I dyed my hair brown. My hair started getting a bit too long for my liking, my roots were showing and it just felt really dull. When I was invited to try out the services at Lisa Shepherd Wombourne, I was in two minds: Do I stay brown or do I go red?

I decided to play it safe again but with a little twist.

After a quick consultation with Tammy, I opted for subtle ombre tones added to my hair. Not very adventurous for me, I know, but something that could be built on when the weather starts getting warmer again!

I always enjoy visiting a Lisa Shepherd salon (as I've been to the Kidderminster salon a few times before). I feel like I can trust the stylists to actually do a good job with my hair and I always leave feeling happy with my new hair cut.

The majority of my colour treatment was to get rid of my roots, and it's nice that the salon has a dedicated waiting area for you to sit down with magazines and complimentary drinks whilst you wait.

Afterwards, I was taken to a separate section of the salon to get the excess colour washed out, and for the part which everyone loves... The head massage! They also added my ombre colour in at this point, which didn't take as long as I expected. I was wondering if the colour would even work but it took really well!

As for the cut, we agreed not to have a fringe cut back in this time. I didn't even explain how much of the length I wanted cutting off as well, but Tammy seemed to just get it.

One thing I absolutely hate when I visit salons is that, when I explain that I like 'volume', they straighten my hair to the point where it's literally poker straight. I never have my hair like that and it's completely the opposite to what I asked! However, Tammy decided to add soft curls to my hair which I absolutely loved!

She introduced me to a couple of new products to me, including Redken's Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer. My hair always takes ages to blow dry so I'm pleased to find out that there's a product out there which shortens the time by a few minutes. This is on my shopping list.

I'm really pleased with how my hair turned out and always recommend going to Lisa Shepherd salons. I just wish my hair looked like this when I try and curl it myself...

Disclaimer: I was invited to Lisa Shepherd Wombourne for complimentary treatments to review. All views and opinions are my own.

So bizarre! I tweeted you yesterday saying I had read all of your blog and that I hadn't realised you were local. I just noticed that this was the Wombourne salon, that is actually where I am from (I live in Kidderminster now)

Definitely a small world!

Your hair looks lovely. x
