The Gadget Show Live 2015 | Review

The Gadget Show Live 2015

I surprised Alex with tickets to The Gadget Show Live this year. It's the first time we've been to the event and it didn't disappoint... Well, much.

We arrived just after 9am, perfect timing to make the most of the interactive stands. The first stand we visited was the Centre of Computing History. I could have easily spent all day here, trying out all the old retro computer systems, and then concentrating on old school Crash Bandicoot (which I'm still rubbish at).

We also watched the Robo Challenge, which is basically a live version of Robot Wars. It was brilliant. One robot in particular got flipped over by another, caught fire and the Robo Challenge team had to throw it in a red box as the battery is toxic. I've completely forgotten all the technical terms, but it was very interesting!

Alex also had a go at the cycling race, although his bike was dodgy as it was meant to be for kids so, despite the fact he was cycling very fast, he came last. (#lolz).

We walked around the exhibition which featured so many different types of gadgets, including audio, video, photography, cleaning, food preparation and toys. The Target Gallery was a particular highlight for obvious reasons.

I also treated us to the Supertheatre tickets. Watching Jason Bradbury, Ortis Deley, Amy Williams and Jon Bentley on stage was a treat. Is it bad that I didn't realise Amy Williams presents The Gadget Show now? I should probably watch it on a regular basis!

They were giving away so many prizes to the audience, including tweet/Instagram a photo using a hashtag to win (social media geek klaxon). We didn't win any though, booo. and were showcasing the latest technology, including photography, light performances, visual DJing etc. It was a great show, which lasted an hour and 15 minutes... A lot longer than expected so worth the money!

The only thing I would say is... Tickets cost a fair bit, and yet you need to take plenty of money if you want to fully enjoy the experience and buy all the tech you want!

I ended up buying an Olloclip (which I LOVE, by the way, and will post a separate review when I get chance) and, apart from food/drink and a Top Gear simulator experience, that's as far as our spending went.

We could have easily bought some Marshall Amp headphones (around £50) and an Aquaforno cooking unit (around £200-300). I avoided the Dyson stand as well, knowing I would have bought a vacuum and a Cooling Tower if I had the chance.

Would we go again? Well Alex loved it so I'm sure we would, but I wouldn't be in a rush to go again next year. I'd rather go a few years apart, knowing that tech has somewhat advanced even further!

MAC Cinderella Lipstick in Royal Ball | Review

MAC Cinderella Lipstick in Royal Ball - £17

Sorry, but I'm really not a fan of MAC Cinderella's Royal Ball lipstick. It's just too pale for me. I prefer adding some colour to my lips, but this makes me more pasty looking than ever.

I was really excited to try this lipstick and, after a weekend of testing, I really can't wear this anymore.

It took a few applications for the colour to really come through, and when it's applied it does sit nicely on your lips and does last a long time. I can't fault the quality.

The packaging is probably my favourite part - it's just so cute and beautifully on brand for Disney's Cinderella.

It's just the bleedin' shade I have an issue with, which, typically, is the main aspect of the product.

If you're a fan of a nude or pale pink lip, then yes, go for it if it becomes available again.

Alternatively, if you don't mind a lipstick that's been used (only a few times), I will more than likely sell this (£14 including P&P) so comment or tweet if you're interested!
