get on your dancing shoes

Dress: Topshop
Tights: Primark
Wedges: New Look

These wedges are comfiest shoes I've bought in a long time! I was a bit worried about the height at first, because I'm pretty tall without the added inches. I'm very glad I bought them in the end though - especially with the free delivery and £15 off that New Look gave me! Score.

As for the dress, it's one of my favourite impulse buys of last year. It's shrunk in the wash so it's a little bit shorter than I'd like, but I'll keep wearing whilst avoiding bending over at any given time!

The whole 'taking photos' issue is starting to really get to me. So much so, I'm looking at purchasing a second-hand SLR from eBay right now. If only I had the money! I've been working with a Nikon D50 this week, which has only spurred me on to buy my very own camera. As much as I adore it, my little digital camera just isn't cutting up to scratch! I guess I have some photography skills after all.

Turned to stone

Shirt: Primark
Vest: H&M

I'm incredibly impressed by Primark lately (I never thought I'd say that). This shirt was £10 and exactly what I was looking for. It's a nice alternative to this and that, and it hasn't fell apart on me yet, which is a major breakthrough for Primarni clothes.

The first week of last semester is officially over. I'm already getting freaked out by the amount of work we have to do. A few include a group lifestyle blog, a digital media essay, learning how to take decent photographs and actually taking 10 good photos in order to get a better mark than 50-something% last year. I have my stress head on already.

Some good news though: After applying for about 30 different work experience places and internships, I've finally heard from one of them. I have work experience lined up at children's TV programme 'Milkshake!' in London. One huge problem: I don't live in London... So if anyone has a spare room I can sleep in when I go, please let me know! Don't fancy sleeping in Canary Wharf tube station, that's for sure.

Who sparkled at the NTAs?

Did anyone watch the NTAs last night? TV stars hit the red carpet in London and showed just how glitzy and glamourous us British people can be! There were a few in particular that caught my eye though...

Myleene Klass wearing a yellow Ariella Couture by Kyla dress.

Adore this dress that Tess Daly wore.

The complete opposite to Jessie Wallace's character!

Jorgi Porter looks beautiful, also the opposite to her character.

Tramp stamp anyone?! Not good Cheryl Cole.

I'm very happy and excited that Lanvin for H&M have decided to join forces again after their recent success. With the leftover items from the collection (which I'm amazed there were leftovers as I would have bought them), they have recycled each fabric and created new designs to be sold in February.

Apparently it'll only be available in 1 store per country (no idea whereabouts in the UK - my bets are somewhere in London), this mini collection is called Waste and is set to cause another craze in the brand. The flagship store in New York has been reported to stock the collection.

I quite want the colour-block tunic dress, but I have a feeling it'll be a trip to eBay rather than the store for me.

I see the light

Cardigan: Primark
Top: Urban Outfitters
Shorts: Topshop
Tights: Primark

I'm so happy I found this cardigan in Primark. I went through a very long phase where I almost refused to walk in there because everything I've bought from there either breaks or rips after the first wear/use. However, I've been seeing a lot of people wearing clothes that really don't look like it's a Primarni special... so I thought I'd give it another go. This mustard, chunky cardigan was only £8 and fits like a dream! I'm still apprehensive about how long it'll last, but it's doing its job well since Sheffield is so cold.

Currently teaching myself how to use Adobe Photoshop again for my new photography module. Bring on a decent SLR and much-needed editing skills so I can use them for this blog too! Using my little digital camera is getting a bit annoying now and I have zero money to buy an SLR as I keep spending it on clothes (oops) so I can't wait to make the most of it for the next few months!

Also, a quick mention about Disney's new film Tangled. YOU MUST WATCH IT! It's got all the qualities of a classic Disney film, but in computerised imagery and 3D (although I watched it in 2D so I have no idea if it's any better in 3D). I almost had a little cry because the ending was THAT good. It's definitely worth the £10, or however much it is, to go see it at the cinema.

Unsurprisingly, it's all Topshop!

This week has been pretty mad, hence the little break I've had from blogging! Now, I'm back in Sheffield for the last semester of my final year. Sad times. I've forgotten how cold it is up here so I've dug out all my jumpers and cardigans to keep myself marginally warm!

I did go to Birmingham the other day and managed to get 3/5 of the things I wanted to get - not bad! I bought these cute River Island brogues using a credit note I had from returning an embellished cream jumper that my best friend Jess bought me for my birthday. Unfortunately it didn't fit and I couldn't find the correct size :( so I've now bought these shoes instead (which I'm hoping she'll like too!) I also bought a pink Zara blouse and Molton Brown hand wash (a bit pricey but gorgeous stuff!). Along with these, I also bought some camel chinos, a burgundy cobweb top and 2 plain vest tops (here and there), all from Topshop, and a Forever21 shirt. Couldn't resist! I won't be doing a haul post because you will see them all at some point during the next 2 weeks.

Other than that, I have no news whatsoever! Now I'm back at uni, I should be posting a bit more! I guess the applied project blog took it out of me so I needed a good break from this! I'll be back on full form soon (:

Bella for Vogue?

via Vogue

Who said Kristin Stewart was good enough to be on the cover of US Vogue? I dislike her very much... Not because she gets to kiss Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, but because she's a boring actress who 'doesn't even want to act' apparently. If you don't want to act, let someone that would appreciate the job do it!

Rant over.

Now... Where's my money?

T-shirt: Topshop
Skirt: Urban Outfitters
Cardigan: Topshop
Headband: Syd and Mallorys
Earrings: Topshop

I wore this outfit to work today. I couldn't be dealing with my standard long black vest and leggings, so decided to dress up a bit with my new bodycon skirt (at a lovely £10 from UO's sale) and my flower headband from Sheffield's vintage boutique, Syd and Mallorys. Love them.

Tomorrow, I'm off to Birmingham for some much-awaited shopping time with the mother. I've decided on what I want to get...
1. Leather shorts (maybe faux if considerably cheaper!)
2. Irregular Choice shoes
3. Peter Pan collar dress
4. Chiffon blouse/shirt
5. Molton Brown hand wash
6. Brogues or loafers

I'm not sure how I'm going to afford all this... but maybe the fact I've achieved a 1st in one of my modules this year will make me feel less guilty for spending money. We'll see.

Who sparkled at the Golden Globes 2011?

The Golden Globes brought so many fashion beauties to the night and, after much thought and research, I picked my favourite three:

Natalie Portman in a pink strapless Viktor and Rolf dress.

Scarlett Johansson looking glamourous in a nude Elie Saab dress.

Helena Bonham Carter stunning the crowd in this multicoloured Vivienne Westwood dress.

I don't usually do red...

dress: Urban Outfitters

First of all, sorry for how dark the photo is. The flash on my little digital camera wasn't working well enough to show the quality of the dress (well, neither does the darkness but it's better). Also, I know there is only one photo... I was going to do a side-on photo but the camera died. I'll stick one on at a later date. I'm also currently on a search for the perfect place to take my outfit pics. My house has no plain walls... The ones that are plain, I can't take a photo from as there's nowhere to stick the camera. I'll figure something out.

This week, I have been mega busy sorting out work experience and intern placements. I'm not going to say anymore, just in case I 'jinx' it, but I really hope I hear back from somewhere. Other than that, I've been enjoying the first week without any university work to do... One week left and then I'm heading back to Sheffield for the last 3/4 months of uni life. SCARY.
